New Delhi: As India achieved a “historic milestone” of delivering 88.09 lakh coronavirus vaccine doses in a single day on June 21, nearly 64 per cent of the jabs were delivered in rural areas, the government said on Tuesday, and noted That this is made possible through a “coordinated, well-organized, convergent approach” between the officials and people of the Center and the State.
Addressing a press conference, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that Madhya Pradesh gave the highest dose on June 21, followed by Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Assam. .
Also, 92.20 percent of vaccinations are from the government’s Kovid-19. happened in Vaccination Center while 7.80 per cent were in private CVC.
“Of the total doses given, women were vaccinated 46.35 percent, men 53.63 percent while others included 0.02 percent,” he said.
Achieved a historic milestone on 21st June – 88.09 lakh doses delivered in a single day. Bhushan said 36.32 percent of the doses were given in urban areas and 63.68 percent in rural areas.
NITI Aayog Member (Health) VK Paul said that the rural coverage of immunization is remarkable and in good proportion. And it shows that rural access is possible.
Since vaccination began in mid-January, India has delivered 29.16 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines till 3 pm on June 22.
Responding to a question on record one-day vaccination, Bhushan said, “What happened yesterday was not sudden, it was the result of coordinated planning in which state governments and central government cooperated and worked very hard and what is happening today is happening.” It is part of that plan. And what happens in the remaining eight days of June is part of that collaborative plan.”
He further said that the average vaccination per day from June 1 to 21 has been 34,62,841, so a jump of up to 88 lakh is possible if the capacity and vaccine is available.
Paul said the record vaccination on June 21 became possible on the first day of implementation of the newly revised guidelines through a “synchronous, streamlined, convergent approach” between the central and state governments and all the people of India.
“It has shown India’s potential for daily immunization. We expect that once the private sector is fully involved in the campaign, this potential will be enormous,” Paul said.
Speaking on the overall pandemic situation in the country, Paul said there was steady improvement, but stressed that people should continue to follow COVID-appropriate behavior and avoid crowds and parties. He also stressed on promoting vaccination.
Bhushan said India’s daily Covid-19 cases have declined by almost 90 per cent as compared to the highest peak reported on May 7.
Also a sharp drop in weekly positivity – a decrease of 84 per cent, has been noted since the highest weekly positivity of 21.4 per cent recorded between May 2 and 10.
Paul said that there are four elements that lead to the formation of a new wave. It is the behavior of a virus that has the ability and ability to spread and a susceptible host—the virus seeks out susceptible hosts in order to survive.
The third is communicability – the virus can be smart enough where it mutates and becomes more transmitted.
The fourth opportunity is “that we give the virus to infect. If we sit together and eat, crowd, sit in closed areas without a mask, there are more opportunities for the virus to spread. Which is our The call to do it is in hand”.
The NITI Aayog member said that two of the above four elements – susceptibility and chance of infection – are completely under our control, while the other two – the behavior and transmission of the virus – cannot be predicted or controlled.
Speaking about the easing of restrictions and the reopening of schools, Paul said that the decision should be taken with caution and we should only take risks when we are safe.
“School is a crowd, a medium or large gathering, which gives an opportunity to transmit the virus. Therefore, we should take this risk only when we are better protected, the virus is suppressed and we sit at some distance. But it is not easy to take this decision to open the school in this unforeseen situation.”
He also mentioned that the virus is currently suppressed due to the discipline and restrictions prevailing in many states, and if restrictions are relaxed and schools are opened, there are opportunities for the virus to spread.
Responding to a question, Paul said, “Elderly can be fully vaccinated and resume normal life without comorbidities, but they also need to take precautions like wearing masks, avoiding crowds.”
“They can even go out for a walk, but they can’t go to crowded places… Still they need to be careful,” Paul said.
Responding to another question, Bhushan said that Coin has established itself as a strong platform, handling a maximum of 2.4 billion traffic in a day without crashing and 18 in the first six hours of the platform’s opening. Opened to more than 13.7 people, it got 13.7 views. Million visits and the system didn’t crash.
“A large number of countries are interested in taking the technology and using it and the National Health Authority, Ministry of Health And the Ministry of External Affairs is simultaneously planning a global webinar to invite such potentially interested countries and we would be willing to share technology and solutions with them.”
