Covid-19 Vaccine Shortage Eases In District | Coimbatore News – Times of India

Coimbatore: Close to two weeks after the district faced a shortage in vaccine storage, the health department has ramped up the stock following the arrival of the new consignment of vaccine doses.
As of Saturday morning, the district had 1.12 lakh of Covishield doses and 53,000 Covaxin doses. A fresh consignment of 38,700 Covaxin doses arrived on March 2, said sources.
Following this, the department has supplied the vaccine doses to all health centres across the district to inoculate the leftover beneficiaries and those who are due to receive their next dose.
On February 24, TOI highlighted that the district is facing a severe shortage of Covaxin stock, which made it difficult for the beneficiaries in the 15-18 age group to get inoculated.
Now that the supply has been streamlined, the health centres noted a good amount of vaccine storage.
Dr S Seralathan, the chief medical officer of Periyanaickenpalayam government hospital said, “The health department has recently supplied the vaccine doses to our centre. Earlier, we were facing difficulty in vaccinating the adolescent beneficiaries.” TNN
