Covid-19: Night curfew will not be withdrawn, says Karnataka CM Basavaraja Bommai | Mysuru News – Times of India

MYSURU: Karnataka chief minister Basavaraja Bommai on Sunday made it clear that the night curfew imposed in the state from Tuesday will not be withdrawn.
Speaking to the reporters in the Mysuru airport, he stated that he observed the inconvenience caused by the night curfew. “However, we banned new year celebrations outdoor, DJ, etc earlier itself. So, there may not be more inconvenience,” he said.
“I held a meeting, and as of now the numbers of not big. “However, in the neighboring states, the numbers are increasing. Keeping in mind developments in many countries, we have taken a few precautionary measures,” he stated.
“Night curfew is an important precautionary measure. We put restrictions on the new year celebrations also. Minister Sudhakar explained all these,” he stated.
When asked about concerns expressed by a section of the industry that night curfew decision will affect them, he stated that there is no question of reviewing the decision to impose night curfew. “Last week at Belagavi, while announcing Covid-19 restrictions after a meeting with experts, I had made clear that keeping in mind omicron variant, additional restrictions will be announced. As per this, we imposed a few minor restrictions,” he said.
On possible third wave in February 2022, he stated that it is just a prediction. “After two waves in the country, prediction is that one or one and half months after Europe, cases increase in India. It is not based on any statistics. It is just a prediction. But we are taking all the precautions,” he said.
