With 20,528 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India’s tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,37,50,599, while the active cases increased to 1,43,449, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.
The death count climbed to 5,25,709 with 49 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.
The active cases comprise 0.33 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.47 per cent, the ministry said.

Assam registered a nearly 5 per cent fall in new cases with 672 more people testing positive, the National Health Mission (NHM) said. One person each died in Charaideo and Kamrup Metropolitan districts due to COVID-19 on Saturday, the NHM bulletin said.
With this, 7,997 COVID-19 patients have died in the state, including 1,347 with co-morbidities.
The state’s positivity rate also decreased to 10.5 per cent as new cases were detected after testing 6,400 samples.
Assam had recorded 706 cases and 11.15 per cent positivity rate on Friday.

Malaysia reported 5,047 new COVID-19 infections, as of midnight Saturday, bringing the national total to 4,619,045, according to the health ministry. There are three new imported cases, with 5,044 cases being local transmissions, data released on the ministry’s website showed.
Four new deaths have been reported, pushing the death toll to 35,848.
The ministry reported 3,770 new recoveries, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 4,540,716.
