Punjab’s senior IAS officer Sanjay Popli, who was caught in the corruption case, will be produced in the Mohali court. He was taken on 4-day remand by Vigilance. During this his house was searched. At the same time, their properties are also being searched. In which Vigilance has come to know about 2 properties. Apart from this, the names of many other officers and employees have also come up in the inquiry. The details of the inquiry will be kept in the Vigilance Court.
1% commission was sought in sewerage project
Sanjay Popli had sought 1% commission from the contractor of Karnal in the sewerage project of 7.30 crores in Nawanshahr. The contractor gave 3.50 lakh through the superintending engineer of the department, Sanjay Vats. After this Popli was transferred from the post of CEO of Sewerage Board. Despite this, he started pressurizing the remaining Rs 3.50 lakh. After recording it, the contractor complained to the CM helpline. After which Popli was arrested from Chandigarh.

Cartridges found from home, also a case of Arms Act
After the arrest of Sanjay Popli, the Vigilance searched his house in Sector 11, Chandigarh. 73 cartridges were found from there. These include 41 cartridges of 7.65MM, 2 of .32 bore and 30 of .22 bore. Because of which a case of Arms Act has been registered against Popli.
Another contractor filed a complaint
Apart from this, the contractor of Karnal had also given a complaint. In which it was said that in Morinda and Talwara, a bribe of 5 lakhs was demanded from him in return for the work of 16 lakhs. He was even threatened to implicate him in a false case. Vigilance will interrogate Popli in this matter as well.
