The counting of votes is going on from 8 am in the elections held on 5 assembly seats in Solan district, the gateway to Himachal Pradesh. First the postal ballots were counted. The first counting trends are expected by 10 am. On the other hand, this time the election results in Solan district can be surprising.

In Solan, Congress candidate former minister Col. Dhaniram Shandil is facing a tough fight with his son-in-law Rajesh Kashyap, who is contesting on a BJP ticket. In Nalagarh, BJP’s Lakhwinder Rana has to face his own party’s rebel KL Thakur before Congress. Congress’s Sanjay Awasthi is also being challenged by party’s rebel Rajendra Thakur in Arki.

Seat-wise counting centers have been set up at 5 places in Solan district. A total of 400 employees have been put on duty for the counting of votes. Postal ballot will be counted first. EVM votes will be counted from 8:30 am. A total of 32 candidates are in the fray to win the 5 seats in Solan.

Counting of votes will be done in 10 rounds in 3 big constituencies Arki, Solan and Nalagarh in the district. 9-9 rounds have been kept for counting the votes of Doon and Kasauli seats. The result of Kasauli seat of the district with the least number of voters is expected to come first by 2 pm. The results of Arki and Nalagarh seats will be available at the last till 4 pm.

This Bar 77.08 % voting Hui

Voting was held on November 12 and this time the total polling in Solan district was 77.08%. A total of 1,61,934 male voters and 1,55,632 female voters cast their votes. 7 votes are of third gender. The highest voter turnout was 85.25% in Doon seat and the lowest was 66.84% in Solan seat. 74.87% voting was recorded in Arki, 78.28% in Kasauli and 80.75% in Nalagarh.

The big faces who are in the fray this time from 5 seats in Solan district include Dr. Rajeev Saizal, who was a minister in the BJP government from Kasauli seat and Colonel Dhaniram Shandil of Congress from Solan Sadar seat.

If we talk about seat-wise candidates, then Govind Ram is contesting from Arki seat on BJP ticket, Sanjay Awasthi on Congress ticket. Kamlesh is in the fray on Bahujan Samaj Party ticket, Jeet Ram on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ticket and Jaidev Singh on Rashtriya Devbhoomi Party ticket. Apart from Rajendra Thakur, who conducts free Ganga Yatra for women from Arki seat, Sanjay Kumar is also contesting as an independent.

BJP has fielded Lakhwinder Singh Rana and Congress has fielded Hardeep Singh Bawa from Nalagarh seat. Dharampal Thakur is contesting from here on Aam Aadmi Party ticket, Paras Bains on Bahujan Samaj Party ticket, Kishori Lal on Swabhiman Party ticket and Jagdish Chand on Rashtriya Devbhoomi Party ticket. Due to KL Thakur contesting as a rebel after not getting BJP ticket on Nalagarh seat, the contest has become tough.

From Doon seat, Paramjit Singh Pammi is the BJP candidate and Ram Kumar is the Congress candidate. Swaran Singh Saini of Aam Aadmi Party, Nagendra of Bahujan Samaj Party and Balwant Singh of Rashtriya Devbhoomi Party are contesting from this seat. Des Raj Chauhan is an independent candidate.

Dr. Rajesh Kashyap is in the fray from Solan seat on a BJP ticket, while his father-in-law Col. Dhaniram Shandil is contesting on a Congress ticket in front of him. Anju Rathore is the candidate of Aam Aadmi Party and Rajendra Bahujan Samaj Party from here.

Congress has given ticket to Vinod Sultanpuri in front of BJP’s Dr. Rajeev Saizal from Kasauli seat. On the other hand, the Aam Aadmi Party has nominated Harmel Dhiman from here. Apart from these three, Ramratan Bahujan Samaj Party, Rajendra Himachal Jankranti Party, Rajeev Kumar Kaundal are the candidates of Rashtriya Devbhoomi Party from Kasauli seat. Om Prakash is contesting as an independent candidate.

The counting of votes in Solan district is taking place at the Municipal Corporation premises in Solan city. The counting of votes for Kasauli assembly seat is being done at Solan Degree College. Counting of Arki is happening in RK College. The counting of Nalagarh and Doon seats is being done at Nalagarh College.

5 location strong room

After voting on November 12, strong rooms were made at 5 places in the district for Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). The paramilitary force was stationed outside the strong room for 24 hours since 12 November. As per the instructions of the Election Commission, after the completion of counting, EVMs will be sent to the district headquarters, where they will be kept safe for 45 days.
