A total of 29 candidates are in the fray to win 5 seats. There are only 5 assembly seats in the district, but despite this Sirmour has its own importance in the politics of the entire state. This time the BJP candidates have got a tough challenge here in the elections. Though Giripar of Sirmaur got tribal status due to the efforts of BJP governments, still there are many factors like infighting and anti-incumbency in the elections.

On the Nahan seat of Sirmaur headquarters, Dr. Rajeev Bindal, former Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, former minister and party president, is badly surrounded by the BJP. Energy Minister Sukhram Chowdhary is in Energy due to the division of Congress votes on the Paonta Sahib seat. In Shillai, despite the vote bank of the tribal Hati community, senior Congressman Harshvardhan Singh Chouhan can save his seat from BJP candidate Baldev Tomar.

In Shri Renukaji, Vinay Kumar of Congress is trying to save his legislature. The Congress has again suffered a setback on the Pachhad seat. Ganguram Musafir, who was the ex-Vis President and Minister till now, has made his party difficult by contesting the elections independently due to not getting the ticket.

5 centers for 5 seat counting
Seat-wise counting centers have been set up in 5 education centers for counting on 5 assembly seats in Sirmaur district. The counting of votes for Nahan assembly constituency will be held at Degree College, for Pachhad seat at Degree College and for Renukaji constituency at Degree College, Sangrah. The counting of votes for Paonta constituency will be done at Senior Secondary School Taruwala and counting of Shillai constituency at Degree College Shillai.

29 candidates in fray for 5 seats
Counting of votes will be done in 8 to 10 rounds in all the seats of the district. There will be a maximum of 10 rounds of counting for Nahan seat. The minimum number of rounds of counting for Shillai seat will be 8 rounds. Shillai seat has less votes. Its result can come first by 12 o’clock, while the trends will come by 9 or 9:30. The result of Nahan seat with the maximum number of voters will be declared only after 12 noon.

This time 80% voting in Sirmaur
During the voting held on November 12 in Sirmaur, a total of 80% voting took place in the district. The maximum turnout was 77 per cent in Shillai assembly. The lowest 66.69 percent voting took place in Nahan assembly seat. 66.70 percent voting was recorded in Paonta Sahib constituency, 76.13 percent in Renukajiji and 76.61 percent in Pachhad constituency.

this big face in the field
In Nahan, the credibility of BJP veteran Dr. Rajeev Bindal is at stake. Ajay Solanki of Congress is giving him a tough fight this time. Both are old rivals. Bindal is trying to open a Solanki account to score a hat-trick from here.

In Paonta Sahib, Energy Minister Sukhram Chowdhary of the present government seems to have some escape. He is pitted against Congress leader Kirnesh Jung. Aam Aadmi Party’s Manish Thakur can harm the Congress vote bank. Manish was the first Youth Congress leader and had joined AAP even before the elections.

In Shillai, Congress veteran Harshvardhan Singh Chauhan is challenged by BJP’s Baldev Tomar. Here the tribal status given to the Hati people of Giripar is the biggest weapon with the BJP. How much it was useful in the elections, the results coming after a while will tell.

In Shri Renukaji also, BJP has hope from the tribal status of Hati community. To what extent it is being fulfilled will be known from the result. Here, former CPS Vinay Kumar from the Congress side is trying to save his legislature from BJP candidate Narayan Chauhan.

Reena Kashyap is in the fray from BJP on Pachhad seat. Nevertheless, the prestige of BJP state president Suresh Kashyap is at stake here. This seat was vacant only after he became MP. Later Reena Kashyap became MLA by winning the by-election. Suresh Kashyap had broken the stronghold of Congress stalwart Ganguram Musafir in Pachhad. Now this same passenger is challenging the Congress candidate Dayal Pyari by contesting as an independent candidate due to not getting the ticket.

You and others are also in the fray
Apart from Congress-BJP, Sunil Sharma from Nahan seat, Nathuram Chauhan from Shillai, Ram Kishan from Renukaji and Ajay Kumar from Pachhad constituency are candidates from Aam Aadmi Party in Sirmaur.

Bahujan Samajwadi Party’s Ayodhya Prasad from Nahan and Seema Devi from Paonta Sahib are in the fray in Sirmaur. CPIM has given ticket to Ashish Kumar only in Pachhad. Apart from these, Ramzan from Nahan assembly constituency, Manish Tomar from Paonta Sahib, Roshan Lal Chowdhary, Rameshwar Sharma and Sunil Kumar are contesting as independent candidates.

EVM brought from strong room
After the polling on November 12, the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) was shifted to the strong room from all the four constituencies of the district.
