In the week ending Sunday (December 13-19), less than 49 thousand corona cases were registered in the country. This is the first time in 19 months that less than 50 thousand cases have been reported in a week. With this, 12.3% more (55,824) cases were registered in the last week. Earlier in 2020, 48,858 thousand cases were reported in the week of May 25-31.

Case and positivity rate in Delhi highest in 6 months
107 corona cases were registered in Delhi on Sunday. For the first time in six months, the maximum number of cases have been found in a single day. Earlier, 115 cases were registered in Delhi on June 25, which was the highest in a single day. The test positivity rate in Delhi on Sunday also stood at 0.17%, which is the highest in six months. By the end of November, Delhi was registering around 30-40 cases daily. But in the last one week, both the case and the positivity rate are increasing here.

So far 22 cases of Omicron have been registered in Delhi. Of these, 10 patients have been discharged from the hospital. Genome sequencing of most of the positive cases has not been done, to know which variant of the corona is responsible for the infection.

Omicron is becoming uncontrollable in Britain, a record 12 thousand cases were reported in a day
On Sunday, Omicron recorded more than 12 thousand cases in a single day in Britain. In Britain, the number of Omicron infected has now reached 37,101. The UK Health Security Agency said on social media that 12,133 cases of Omicron have been reported in one day. Along with Omicron in the UK, the Delta variant is also causing havoc. On 17th, 93 thousand 045 cases of corona were registered. Experts have expressed concern that Delta and Omicron may combine to create a super variant.
