Convocation ruckus: SHO suspended in Jodhpur | Jodhpur News – Times of India

JODHPUR: An SHO was suspended on Friday for alleged dereliction of duty following complaint about disruption of the convocation ceremony of Jai Narayan Vyas University by some students and retired employees on Thursday.
A case had been registered against eight persons including former student union president Ravindra Singh and president of retired employees union Mohan Singh.
On Friday, while the court released all on bail except for Ravindra Singh and Mohan Singh, who were directed to be sent to judicial custody.
Police have initiated an inquiry against SHO (Ratanada) Mool Singh Bhati for his alleged negligence in timely action on the complaint of disruption.
A senior police officer said that there was prima facie negligence on the part of Bhati and inquiry into the matter has been handed over to an ACP. Until then, Bhati has been put on suspension. It may be noted that some students and retired as well as existing employees had disrupted the 18th convocation ceremony of the university on Thursday and had shown black flags to vice chancellor P C Trivedi. This disruption had led to suspension of live streaming of the event, which was also attended by governor Kalraj Mishra and chief minister Ashok Gehlot.
