The Congress released its first list of candidates for the Uttarakhand Assembly election on Saturday. The party announced its candidates for 53 of the 70 seats in the Uttarakhand Assembly in its first list.

Uttarakhand Congress chief Ganesh Godiyal will be contesting the Assembly election from Srinagar constituency. Meanwhile, Yashpal Arya and his son Sanjeev Arya, who quit the BJP and joined the Congress in October last year, will be fighting the election from Bajpur and Nainital constituencies respectively.

UTTARAKHAND ELECTION

The Uttarakhand Assembly election 2022 will be held in a single phase on February 14. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.

The last Assembly polls (in 2017) in Uttarakhand were held in a single phase, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 57 of the state’s 70 Assembly constituencies.

This time, the Uttarakhand Assembly polls are likely to witness a three-cornered fight between the ruling BJP, the Congress led by Harish Rawat, and Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party.
