Congress lost from Surat for the first time: BJP captured all 16 seats in Surat, AAP too

During the Surat tour, PM Modi personally met many Patidar leaders in Surat.

This time in the assembly elections, the BJP created history by sweeping all the 16 seats. The Aam Aadmi Party created a vicious cycle in Surat to stop the BJP’s victory chariot and fielded three of its Patidar faces Alpesh Kathiria, Gopal Italia and Dharmic Malviya, but it could not succeed. The BJP registered a one-sided victory by cornering AAP and the Congress. The BJP also won the seats with a good margin. Mandvi seat, where the BJP had not been able to win till now, also hoisted saffron there.

Challenged BJP by winning 27 councilors

The Aam Aadmi Party contested the Gujarat assembly elections on the issue of freebies like education, health, inflation, but the people of Surat also rejected them.

AAP’s candidate from Varachha seat and Patidar leader Alpesh Kathiriya did not get the support of Patidars as well and had to face defeat by more than 16,000 votes. The effect of PM Narendra Modi’s road show and meeting was such that the BJP made a clean sweep in all the Patidar dominated seats.
