Congress leader KSBA Thangal detained at Coimbatore airport with revolver | Coimbatore News – Times of India

COIMBATORE: Kerala-based Congress party functionary KSBA Thangal was detained by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel at the Coimbatore International Airport for possession of a revolver with seven live rounds. He was handed over to the Peelamedu police for further investigation.
The police seized the .22mm revolver and seven bullets from him. The revolver was not in usable condition. Thangal did not possess any valid documents for the weapon.
According to sources, Thangal, who was the former chairman of Pattambi municipality in Kerala, was about to travel to Bengaluru from Coimbatore International Airport in an IndiGo flight on Tuesday morning. From there, he was to travel to Amritsar in Punjab.
Airline staff scanned his baggage and found a revolver with seven live rounds. They alerted CISF personnel who picked him up for further inquiry. Initially, Thangal told the officials that he was not aware about the revolver in his luggage.
Thangal told the police that he had been functioning as a secretary of MES International School at Pattambi for more than 15 years. He was going to Amritsar to buy uniforms for the school students.
