Communal tension in two cities of Gujarat: Controversy erupted over the banning of Garba in Kheda, Nadiad and the installation of religious flags in Vadodara

Communal tension broke out in two cities of Gujarat on Tuesday night. In Kheda town of Nadiad district, there was a dispute over stopping the Garba event, in which half a dozen people were injured. At the same time, stone pelting took place on both sides over the installation of religious flags in Savli town of Vadodara district. Here also 6 people were injured. The police have arrested 40 people from both the sides. Police forces are deployed at both the places.

SP Rajesh Godhia said that some people led by two people named Arif and Zahir reached the place of Garba in Kheda town and started obstructing the Garba. After this the situation worsened and then stone pelting started from both the sides, in which 6 people were injured. Both the main accused are absconding, whose search is on. Security has been increased in view of the tension in the city. A large number of police forces have been deployed.

The action to nab the accused continued late night in Vadodara.

According to the Vadodara police, there was a ruckus in the Savali area here over the religious flag. In fact, a group had put up religious flags on electric poles before an Islamic festival. There is also a temple nearby, where other flags were also installed. Tension arose between the two sides regarding this matter. Violent clashes took place when some locals went to inform other community members that their religious sentiments were being hurt.

40 arrested so far
Meanwhile, people from both the sides got enraged and on seeing it stone pelting started from both the sides. During this many vehicles got damaged here. Police said that FIR has been registered. 25 people from one side and 15 from other side have been arrested. Security has been beefed up in the entire area. The situation is under control at present.
