CM rolls out sports scheme for rebel-hit areas | Ranchi News – Times of India

Jamshedpur: Chief minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday launched a special sports program titled ‘SAHAY’ in Chaibasa during its public outreach program — Sarkar Aapke Dwar. Soren said that the present government is working at multiple levels to usher in development, welfare and prosperity in the naxal-hit districts. “The government’s purpose behind launching SAHAY (sports action towards harnessing the aspirations of youngsters) in the naxal-hit districts is to provide a platform to the village youths to join the mainstream of the society and to guide and prevent them falling into the traps of the extremist forces,” he added.
The programme has been introduced in extremist hit districts of West Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Khunti, Simdega and Gumla.
“In the first phase of SAHAY, as many as 72,000 sports enthusiasts will participate in sporting activities like football, hockey, volleyball and athletics,” the CM said, adding, “The participating players would receive funds ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 10,000.”
