Chandrayaan-3: International community congratulates India after its historic achievement on Moon

As India became the first country to mark a successful landing on the south pole of the Moon, the international community congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for Chandrayaan-3’s historic feat.

India’s Chandrayaan-3’s Vikram lander successfully set its four legs softly and safely on the lunar soil as planned, and became the fourth nation in the world to achieve the feat, but first to land on Moon’s south pole.

The lander landed near the South Pole of the moon after travelling about 3.84 lakh km for over 40 days. With the landing, a major portion of the Rs 600 crore Chandrayaan-3 mission has been realised. The remaining portion is the moon rover rolling down from the lander, moving around and doing the programmed experiments.

US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti hailed the nation for the historic achievement of the Chandrayaan-3’s mission, noting further opportunities for India-US collaboration in space.

“That’s how you stick a landing! Congratulations to India, @ISRO and the entire team on the successful landing of #Chandrayaan3! I can see exciting opportunities ahead for #USIndiaSpace collaboration,” he tweeted.

Chandrayaan-3 shows India’s impressive progress in science and technology: Vladimir Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin also congratulated India, reported news agency PTI. He said that Chandrayaan-3’s successful landing shows the nation’s impressive progress in science and technology.

“Please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the successful landing of India’s Chandrayaan-3 space probe on the Moon near the South Pole. This is a long stride in the exploration of outer space and, of course, evidence of the impressive progress made by India in science and engineering,” said Putin

Russia’s Roscosmos, the brains behind Luna 25, also congratulated India

Russia’s space agency Roscosmos also extended its congratulations to their colleagues in India after Chandrayaan-3’s success, reported TASS news agency

“State Space Corporation Roscosmos would like to congratulate our Indian colleagues on the successful landing of the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft,” the statement reads, adding that the exploration of the Moon is an important endeavor for all mankind as in the future, it can be turned into a platform for the further research of space.

Glad to be your partner: NASA

Bill Nelson, the Administrator of US National Aeronautics and Space Administration, congratulated ISRO on the successful mission and said that the organisation was glad to be India’s partner in the Chandrayaan-3 mission.

“Congratulations @isro on your successful  Chandrayaan-3 lunar South Pole landing! And congratulations to #India on being the 4th country to successfully soft-land a spacecraft on the Moon. We’re glad to be your partner on this mission!” said Nelson.

An extraordinary achievement by India, says UK Foreign Secretary

UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly praised the occasion as a historic moment and an extraordinary achievement by the people of India.

“A historic moment. Congratulations to India for the first ever landing on the moon’s South Pole. An extraordinary achievement by the Indian people,” he tweeted.

What a triumph!: Australia

Philip Green, Australian Ambassador to India, took to social media to congratulate India on the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon

“What a triumph! Congratulations #India on #Chandrayaan3’s successful #MoonLanding! Our team watched with pride the final frontier of your #MoonMission,” tweeted Green.

Soft landing in the history books: France

The French Embassy in India also hailed the occasion, saying that India has benefited all humanity’s space exploration efforts.

“Soft landing in the history books. Congratulations @isro & the people of India on the #Chandrayaan3 success! Through this landmark feat born of ingenuity and perseverance, India benefits all humankind’s space exploration endeavors,” it posted on X.

Success for all of humanity: Maldives

Maldives Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid called Chandrayaan-3 mission ” a success for all of humanity” and that it opened new areas of exploration.

“India creates history! As a South Asian nation, and neighbour, we are proud of the successful landing of #Chandrayaan3 near the moon’s south pole. This is a success for all of humanity! Opening new avenues for new areas of exploration. Congratulations #India. Congratulations Prime Minister @narendramodi, External Affairs Minister @DrSJaishankar, and the scientists at @isro!” he tweeted.

A historic achievement in science and space technology: Nepal

Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kumar Dahal ‘Prachanda’ took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate India, PM Modi and ISRO for the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3.

“I congratulate Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and ISRO team of India on successful landing of Chandrayan-3 in the surface of the moon today and unleashing of a historic achievement in science and space technology,” he said.

History made: UK Space Agency

The UK Space Agency also extended its congratulations to ISRO on the historic accomplishment.

“History made! Congratulations to @isro,” it wrote.

Thoroughly impressed: European Space Agency

Josef Aschbacher, Director-General of European Space Agency, implied that Chandrayaan-3’s success was an incredible way to demonstrate new technologies and lauded the efforts of his agency for supporting India in the process.

“Incredible! Congratulations to @isro, #Chandrayaan_3, and to all the people of India!! What a way to demonstrate new technologies AND achieve India’s first soft landing on another celestial body. Well done, I am thoroughly impressed. And kudos once again to @esaoperations for your precious support through this process. We, too, are learning great lessons and providing crucial expertise. A strong international partner is a powerful partner,” wrote Aschbacher.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) also congratulated India on the occasion and underscored that nations are built through perseverance

“Congratulations to our friends in India for the successful landing on the moon. Nations are built through perseverance, India continues to make history,” he tweeted.

Philipp Ackermann, German Ambassador to India and Bhutan, also joined in the congratulatory brigade, saying, “My heartfelt congratulations to India and Team @ISRO for the successful moon landing of #Chandrayaan3.
