The 5th Convocation was organized at IIIT, Saloh, Una, Himachal. In which former Chairman of ISRO Dr. K Sivan advised the students to choose careers according to their competence. He said that do not be afraid of failure, but should be courageous to learn from it.

Dr. K Sivan attended the function as the Chief Guest. While the Director of IIIT, Prof. S Selva Kumar presided over the programme. During this, Dr. K Sivan said that the errors which were traced during the failure of Chandrayaan-2 have been removed. Said that the testing of this project is still going on. Only after its completion will the work on the next mission start. Dr. K Sivan said that ISRO is working with NASA on many projects. The work of launching a satellite of advanced technology is in the final stage.

He said that through this advanced satellite, the movement of the Earth in centimeters can be seen in space 700 kilometers away. Said that the next satellite launch from Shri Hari Kota can be done within a week or two. Dr. K Sivan said that science students do not have the opportunity to make a career in ISRO itself. Students can choose the field according to their ability and proficiency.

Students have to work with passion in this, only then success is possible. Said that students have to invent new things and take risks to make them successful. Gold medals were awarded to 3 students for their exemplary performance in the function. While 130 students were awarded degrees.

Highest package Rs 48 lakh per annum

These include 52 of B.TECH Computer and Science Engineering, 46 of Electronics and Communication and 32 students of Information Technology. It is said that placement of students has taken place in 36 companies. The highest package in this is Rs 48 lakh per annum. While the average package is of 12.06 lakhs. The institute has signed 5 MoUs with IIIT Mandi, Ropar, HPTU Hamirpur, HPU and Medical College Ner Chowk.

Pro. S Selva Kumar said two more MoUs have been signed this year. These include SSN College of Engineering Chennai along with BIRAC and Himachal Police Training Center Kangra for imparting training to police officers. From this academic session, the institute plans to collaborate with Georgia Tech, Atlanta and USA to set up a Nanotechnology Technology Center.
