Chandigarh Airport Name Changed: Notification Issued; Now Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport will be known as

The name of Chandigarh International Airport has now been registered in the papers after the name of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has notified Chandigarh International Airport as Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport. Notification has been issued regarding this. A gadget notification has been issued for this. At present, the airport of Chandigarh is being displayed on the website in the name of International Airport.

On September 28, a program was organized by the Ministry of Civil Aviation to rename Chandigarh International Airport as ‘Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport’.

The event was held in Mohali
This naming was done in a program organized in Mohali district on the occasion of 115th birthday of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. The country’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also reached it. Apart from him, State Civil Aviation Minister Dr. VK Singh, including Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Governor BL Purohit, Chandigarh MP Kirron Kher, Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Home Minister Anil Vij, Anandpur Sahib MP Manish Tewari and many other leaders had arrived.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also reached the program in Mohali.

More international flights were demanded
During the program, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had also demanded from the Ministry of Civil Aviation to start more international flights from Chandigarh airport. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also talked about renaming Chandigarh International Airport as Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport on the radio broadcast ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on September 25.

The recommendation to add the name of Panchkula was
Earlier, a meeting was held with the Chief Minister of Punjab and Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana Dushyant Chotala on August 20. In which it was agreed to name the airport after Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Earlier, Haryana had recommended that the name of Panchkula should also be included in the name of the airport. Haryana has also had an equal share in the construction of this airport.
