As per media reports, CBSE has formed a committee to develop a comprehensive policy on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across schools to help students prepare for future jobs
In line with the New Education Policy (NEP 2020), the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had last year announced that it intends to promote skill development training among its students by teaching them coding and artificial intelligence (AI). Up until now, courses focusing on skill education began only from class 9 but now it will likely be introduced from classes 6 to 8 as well.
The board is now planning to develop a comprehensive policy on the use of artificial intelligence across schools to help students prepare for future jobs, as well as promote innovation among them, Hindustan Times reported. In a meeting held last year in November, the board proposed creating a comprehensive AI strategy for schools. During the meeting, it had decided to constitute a committee comprising of higher education institutions IITs, NITs, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, stakeholders from the AI industry as well as CBSE officials. The committee will likely submit its recommendations on the same by April this year, the report added.
The central board had earlier planned to include 33 subjects as part of the skill development training which include data science, artificial intelligence, Khadi Kashmiri Embroidery, Augmented Reality (AR), financial literacy, coding, and satellite applications. These modules are expected to take between 12 and 15 hours and the time between practical work and theoretical learning will be split in a ratio of 70–30.

Meanwhile, the CBSE board exams 2024 is underway. The classes 10 and 12 exams began on February 15. The exams will end on April 2. The class 12 exam will conclude with computer science and information technology. This year, the CBSE has eliminated specialised answer books previously utilised in the class 12 Accountancy exam. This will remove the tables-inclusive answer books that were given to candidates earlier, the official notification stated.
