The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) recently issued a notification inviting observations on the question papers for the 2024 board exams. The board has requested that schools streamline the process of observations. According to the notification, the board identified some issues with the received feedback and issued a notice to clarify.

As per the requests, the observations should be uploaded to the Online Exam Centre Management System (OECMS) on the same day as the exam. CBSE stated that it will not take any action if the observations are not received on time, are not following the board’s instructions, or are vague and unclear.

“You are aware that the board examinations for Classes 10 and 12 have started. Every year, schools are requested to send their observations and issues if any to the CBSE on the question paper in OECMS,” the official notice by the board reads.

The notice was sent by the board after it noticed that schools were sending observations to multiple email addresses that weren’t intended for that use. It also mentioned that the observations were sent in an ambiguous and delayed manner after a few days. The board gave an example, stating that although the question in one of the observations is incorrect, it does not specify why.

To improve this process, CBSE has asked its affiliated school principals to take particular actions, like recording observations on OECMS, sending the necessary information to qpobservation@cbseshiksha.in to resolve any concerns, and turning in observations on test day. Furthermore, the CBSE has stated that if the feedback is ambiguous, delayed, does not follow CBSE guidelines, or is unclear, the Board will not take any action.

On February 16, the CBSE fact-checked a false announcement circulating on social media concerning the postponement of the 2024 board exams. The misleading circular stated that the CBSE had postponed the exams due to the ongoing farmer protest. However, the CBSE clarified that it had not made such a decision.

“Fact Check! Beware! The following letter under circulation is FAKE and misleading. The board has not taken any such decision,” CBSE wrote on X (formally known as Twitter). (sic)

CBSE began administering the 2024 board exams for classes 10 and 12 on February 15. The Class 12 exams will be held until April 2, and the Class 10 exams until March 13 this year.
