The house of CM Ashok Gehlot’s brother (right) has been raided by the CBI team. 10 officers involved in the team are involved in the investigation. The case is related to the fertilizer scam.
CBI has raided the house and shop of Chief Minister Gehlot’s brother. Agrasen Gehlot is accused that between 2007 and 2009, in the name of distributing the potash needed to make fertilizers among the farmers, he bought it on subsidy from the government and made profit by selling the product to private companies.
The investigation of this case is also going on in ED. The customs department had also imposed a penalty of about Rs 5.46 crore on Agrasen’s company. On Agrasen’s appeal, the High Court had stayed his arrest in the ED-related case. Now CBI has started investigation in this case.
The CBI team suddenly reached the whereabouts of Gehlot’s brother Agrasen on Friday morning. Agrasen was at home at that time. The CBI team consists of five officers from Delhi and five from Jodhpur. At present, the team members are engaged in the investigation. No one is being allowed inside. Information is also coming about a team reaching Agrasen’s shop located at Pawta.

According to ED officials, Agrasen Gehlot’s company Anupam Krishi was involved in the export of Muriate of Potash (MOP) fertilizer despite the ban on its export. Indian Potash Limited (IPL) imports MOP and sells it on subsidy to farmers.
Agrasen Gehlot was an authorized dealer of IPL. Between 2007 and 2009, his company bought MOP at a subsidized rate, but instead of selling it to farmers, he sold it to other companies. Those companies transported MOP to Malaysia and Singapore in the name of industrial salt.
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence had exposed the fertilizer scam in 2012-13. The customs department had also imposed a penalty of about Rs 5.46 crore on Agrasen’s company. The BJP made it an issue in 2017. This matter has now come up for discussion again.
