Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday in the assembly for the financial year 2022-23. Budget Presented. During this, a briefcase in Baghel’s hand is in great discussion. Actually this briefcase is made of cow dung, about which Baghel presented the budget. On this briefcase was written in Sanskrit ‘Gomay Vasate Lakshmi’, which means Lakshmi resides in cow dung.

This is the first time in the country that a Chief Minister has used a briefcase made of cow dung to bring the budget. Generally, before this, Chief Ministers of different states have been using briefcases made of leather or jute to carry the copy of the budget. This briefcase has been prepared by the women of the women’s self-help group ‘Ek Pahal’ working in Raipur Gokul Dham Gauthan.

Briefcase ready in 10 days

The women of the group told that the specialty of this briefcase is that it has been prepared after 10 days of hard work by applying a mixture of cow dung powder, lime powder, maida, wood and guar gum layer by layer. Designed specifically for the budget, the handle and corner of this briefcase have been made by Bastar Art Artisans, a group of Kondagaon city.

Dung is the symbol of Maa Lakshmi
Actually, in Chhattisgarh it is believed that cow dung is a symbol of Goddess Lakshmi. In the Teej festivals of the state, there has been a tradition to cover the houses with cow dung. Keeping this in mind, the women of Self Help Groups have made Gomay Briefcase, so that from this briefcase in the hands of the Chief Minister, Lakshmi enters every house of Chhattisgarh in the form of budget and every citizen of the state can become financially empowered.

Godhan Nyay Yojana was started in 2020
Godhan Nyay Yojana was started in the state in 2021. The aim is to benefit the livestock farmers. Under this scheme, the state government buys cow dung from cattle rearing farmers. In return, they are given money. By 2022, many farmers have taken advantage of this scheme.

Under this scheme the government is also working for the cows. The state government has also constructed different Gauthans across the state for this. In these, the care of cows is being done and the work of making vermicompost manure is done from their dung.

PM has also praised the plan
Godhan Nyay Yojana has made a different identity in the whole country. It has also been praised by the Prime Minister and the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture. Under Godhan Nyay Yojana, 10591 Gauthans have been approved across the state. Out of these, the construction of 8048 Gauthans has been completed. 2800 Gauthans of the state have become self-supporting.

Electricity and Gulal made from cow dung
The state government is only buying cow dung from the cow rearers. Apart from this, the state government is also doing the work of generating electricity from cow dung. Last year, on the day of Gandhi Jayanti, the CM had launched the project to generate electricity from cow dung. Under this, now the work of generating electricity from cow dung is being done in the state. At the same time, an initiative of Raipur’s social organization is working to make gulal from cow dung.
