BREAKING: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Named In ED Chargesheet In Haryana Land Scam Case: Sources

NEW DELHI: In a major political development, sources on Thursday said that Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has been named in a chargesheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a land scam in Haryana. In its chargesheet, the Enforcement Directorate has named Priyanka over her alleged role in purchasing agricultural land measuring 40 kanal (five acres) in Haryana’s Faridabad from a Delhi-based real estate agent HL Pahwa in 2006 and selling the same land to him in February 2010.

According to the ED, the land was purchased in Amipur village in Faridabad from Pahwa –  the agent with whom Priyanka’s husband Robert Vadra also purchased three pieces of land measuring 334 kanals (40.08 acres) in Amipur village from 2005-2006 and sold the same land to him in December 2010.

Interestingly, the agent is the same person who also sold land to NRI businessman CC Thampi. the accusations against Priyanka are part of ED’s larger probe involving fugitive arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari, who is under investigation by multiple agencies for money laundering, violation of foreign exchange and black money laws, and the Official Secrets Act.

The ED has named Priyanka’s husband Robert Vadra in earlier chargesheets related to its ongoing probe into a PMLA case against the former’s close aide CC Thampi. However, this is the first time that Priyanka Gandhi has been mentioned in an official document submitted to the court. 

According to PTI, Both Robert Vadra and Priyanka Gandhi have not been named as accused, and the land transactions have been mentioned by the central financial crime probe agency to draw a link between Thampi and Vadra.

The Enforcement Directorate has reportedly leveled serious allegations against Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and her husband in connection with the Haryana land scam case. According to the ED chargesheet, former Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra and daughter Priyanka bought land in Haryana through a Delhi-based real estate agent who also sold land to NRI businessman CC Thampi. The agency further claimed that Vadra and Thampi have a “long and thick” relationship that extends to “common and business interests”.
