24th Vijay Diwas To Be Observed In Drass

Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday will pay homage to the jawan at Drass who lost their lives in the 1999 Kargil War. The main event to mark the Vijay Diwas and commemorate the jawans’ martyrdom will begin on Tuesday evening with floral tributes at the memorial, where many current and former top Army officers will lay wreaths.

The ceremony will be followed by a memorial service and a visit to the ‘Hut of Remembrance’ — a museum constructed adjacent to the memorial.

Lightning of lamps and a prayer service will also take place which will be followed by the traditional pipe band and static band display and the Beating Retreat.

AAP To Hold Nationwide Protest Over Manipur Issue

The Aam Aadmi Party will hold a nationwide protest against the against the precarious situation in Manipur, party officials said. Top leaders of the party will attend the protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.  Leaders of several opposition parties on Monday demonstrated in the Parliament complex demanding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi make a statement in the House on the Manipur issue.

Over 160 people have lost their lives while many other wounded and displaced since the ethnic clashes erupted in Manipur on May 3 between majority Meiteis and the tribal Kukis over demand by Meiteis for inclusion in the Scheduled Tribes (ST) list.

BJP To Convene Meeting Of MPs From Uttarakhand

The BJP has convened an important meeting of its MPs from Uttarakhand on Tuesday in the national capital o discuss organisational matters. On Sunday,

Uttarakhand BJP media in-charge Manveer Chauhan said all the party MPs from the state, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and state party chief Mahendra Bhatt will attend the meeting.

It will deliberate on ways to ensure an increased participation of the party MPs in organisational matters, including an intense public relations campaign to be launched at the booth level by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in September-October, he said.
