In a rather interesting development, Aam Aadmi Party’s Shelly Oberoi has been unanimously elected mayor of Delhi MCD after BJP candidate Shikha Rai withdrew her nomination. BJP candidate for the Deputy Mayor elections, Soni Pandey, also withdrew her candidature. With this, AAP’s Aaley Mohammad Iqbal, son of MLA Shoaib Iqbal, has been elected as the deputy mayor for the second consecutive term.
