Brahmastra Director Ayan Mukerji To Direct Hrithik Roshan’s War 2

New Delhi: Filmmaker Ayan Mukerji on Tuesday announced the timeline of ‘Brahmastra Part 2: Dev’ and ‘Brahmastra Part 3’. He said the films will be made together and released in 2026 and 2027, respectively.  Apart from this, the filmmaker had one more announcement – Ayan shared that he will be directing a very ‘special’ movie. The speculations around the movie name started after his announcement. According to various reports, the director has been roped in by Yash Raj Films’ head honcho Aditya Chopra to direct the second installment of ‘War’ starring Hrithik Roshan.

“Aditya Chopra is choosing the captain of the ship for each YRF Spy Universe film strategically. Ayan has delivered big hits which appeals to all audience segments and has the pulse of Indian audiences. He has shown that he knows how to mount a film with a huge scale, which is essential for someone to direct War 2,” Ians quoted its source.

“Plus, he is a young film-maker who can bring a different kind of newness to the Spy Universe. Ayan will have his unique take on how to make an epic action spectacle with War 2. Aditya Chopra trusts him to take the franchise forward. Ayan directing ‘War 2’ is probably the most exciting announcements of recent times. All eyes on him to make the franchise and the YRF Spy Universe bigger,” Ians quoted its source as saying.

The filmmaker talked about directing a ‘special movie’ but didn’t name the film. He wrote, “The Universe has presented me with a very special opportunity recently – a very special movie – to step into and direct! What the movie is… More on that when the time is right. An opportunity that challenges me and terribly excites me… one where I will learn, be inspired and where I will grow! So, I have decided to take it up!! Opening myself up to all the positive energies in this universe so I can do my best and contribute to that one thing that matters most to me – Indian Cinema!”

‘War’, released in 2019, was helmed by ‘Pathan‘ director Siddharth Anand. The film also starred Tiger Shroff.
