Black money-drugs shadow on Punjab elections: 82 crore drugs-liquor and 17 crore benami cash seized in 22 days; Commission increased vigil

The shadow of black money and drugs is hovering over the Punjab elections. It can be gauged from the fact that drugs worth 82 crores have been caught in just 22 days. In which intoxication of more than 74 crores and liquor worth about 7 and a half crores are included. At the same time, benami cash of about 17 crores has also been seized. So far the commission has caught items worth 100 crores. In such a situation, now the Election Commission has increased the vigil from within the city to the border.

Coordination is being done at the level of DGP to prevent drug addiction from neighboring states.

Arrangements to stop drugs, contact with neighboring states, NCB deployed in every district

Police in Punjab has been alerted to stop drugs. Strictness has been increased on the borders of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir and Chandigarh adjoining Punjab. Meetings have been held with the DGPs of these states and union territories at the level of the DGP of Punjab. Nodal officers have been posted in every state. At the same time, drug controllers from many states including Chandigarh, Uttarakhand have also been included in the team. Apart from this, teams of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) have also been deployed in every district of Punjab.

The Income Tax Department has taken a front to ensure that black money should not be spent in Punjab elections.
