LUCKNOW: Minutes after the SP announced the candidature of Nahid Hasan from Kairana, BJP attacked SP chief Akhilesh Yadav accusing him of fuelling the politics of riots and appeasement.
The BJP categorically took the name of Nahid and Aslam Ali terming them “tainted”. Hasan was arrested by the police under gangster Act, following which his sister Ikra Hasan had filed nomination papers.
The party said that Akhilesh Yadav’s love for Pakistan clearly shows that he has no sympathy for soldiers who are martyred on the border. “His objectionable statement is an insult to the brave martyrs,” the BJP tweeted.
Later, deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya slammed SP for announcing the candidature of those who tarnished the pride of UP.
“SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has released the list of brand ambassadors of his Samajwadi Dangaraj, Gundaraj, Corrupt Raj. There are many candidates whose background is riddled with criminal cases. It is just a trailer… the whole picture is yet to come. the picture of fear and panic in the state. His party candidates are ‘decorated’ rioters, robbers, murderers, rapists and frauds,” Mauya said.
Maurya said that while Monday happened to be a Girl Child Day, SP list included names of rapists, crimes against women and girls, people who have committed sexual violence,” he alleged.
The SP, he said, has shown its anti-social face.

They have broken their own records by releasing the names of history sheeters and gangsters,” he said, adding that the “foundation of socialist loot” plan was laid. He categorically took the names of Nahid Hasan, Abdullah Azam, Azam Khan, Sultan Baig, Mehboob Ali, Aslam Choudhary and Irfan Solan- ki. “Not only this, there are such notorious faces in their list who have a cquired expertise in crime. Their candidates have committed the most serious offences,” he said.
