In Gujarat, BJP has made a new record of victory with 157 seats. The Congress had won 149 assembly seats in 1985 under the leadership of Madhav Singh Solanki. At the same time, the BJP had won 127 seats in the 2002 elections when Narendra Modi was the CM. With this victory, BJP has broken both the records.

After this historic victory, CM’s oath will be taken on December 12 at the helipad ground behind the assembly in Gandhinagar. The interesting thing is that during the election campaign, PM Modi had said – Bhupendra will break Narendra’s record. This is exactly what is visible in the election results. BJP crosses 150, Congress confined within 20
The BJP has won 157 of Gujarat’s 182 assembly seats. It has gained 58 seats as compared to 2017. At the same time, the Congress has suffered the maximum loss of 61 seats. The party had won 77 seats last time. This time it has got only 16 seats.

Chief Minister will take oath on December 12 in Gandhinagar
In Gujarat, counting started from EVM after counting of postal ballots in half an hour before 8 am on Thursday. Gujarat BJP chief CR Patil said that the new Chief Minister of Gujarat will take oath on December 12 at 2 pm. The swearing-in ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Aam Aadmi Party could win only 5 seats in Gujarat. All its three big leaders have lost the elections. These include chief ministerial candidate Isudan Gadhvi, state president Gopal Italia and Patidar leader Alpesh Kathiria. Despite this, AAP has got the status of a national party on the basis of vote share. Now the party will be able to fight with its name and symbol across the country.

Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM participated in the Gujarat assembly elections for the first time. AIMIM also fielded two Hindu candidates out of a total of 13. All the candidates of the party have lost the elections. BJP rebel Madhu Srivastava has also lost the election from Vadodara’s Waghodia seat. Independents and other candidates have won 4 seats.

1. CM Bhupendra Patel won from Ghatlodiya (Ahmedabad): This time CM of the state Bhupendra Patel entered the fray from Ghatlodia seat which gave two Chief Ministers (Bhupendra Patel and Anandiben Patel) to Gujarat. The Congress had given ticket to Rajya Sabha MP Ami Ben Yagnik on this seat dominated by Patidar voters. Vijay Patel was contesting from AAP.

2. BJP’s Darshita Shah wins from Rajkot West: Narendra Modi contested his first election in 2002 from Rajkot-West. In the last election, Vijay Rupani, who was the CM of Gujarat, had won from here by a margin of 53,000 votes. This time BJP fielded Darshita Shah in her place. Mansakhbhai from Congress and Dinesh Joshi from AAP were fighting here.

3. BJP’s Rivaba Jadeja wins from Jamnagar North: Here cricketer Ravindra Jadeja’s wife Rivaba is in the fray on a BJP ticket. Veteran leader Bipendra Singh Jadeja from Congress and Karsan Karmor of AAP are contesting the elections. The special thing is that Rivaba’s sister-in-law Nayaba was campaigning against him. She is the General Secretary of Jamnagar District Congress. Rivaba’s father-in-law Anirudh Jadeja was also campaigning in support of the Congress candidate.

4. BJP’s Hardik Patel wins from Viramgam (Ahmedabad): Hardik Patel, who left Congress and joined BJP, was the candidate from Viramgam seat. The Congress has been holding this seat for the last two terms. The Congress, which had won the seat in 2002 and 2007, had fielded veteran Lakhabhai Bharwad. AAP had fielded Amar Singh Thakor in the election.

5. BJP’s Kanti Lal Amritiya wins from Morbi: Kanti Lal Amritiya Sal has won from Morbi five times on BJP ticket. In 2017, he was defeated by Brijesh Merja of INC. After the elections, Merja left the legislature and joined the BJP. Because of this by-elections were held in 2018. Merja only won in this.

This time the BJP cut off his ticket and once again fielded Amritiya. During the Morbi bridge accident, he jumped into the Macchu river to save lives. Congress had given ticket to Jayanti Patel and AAP to Pankaj Ransaria.

6. BJP’s Amul Bhatt wins from Maninagar (Ahmedabad): While being the CM of Gujarat, Modi won the 2007 and 2012 elections from Maninagar seat in Ahmedabad. This seat is occupied by the BJP for the last 8 elections. The party has given ticket to Amul Bhatt from here. AAP had fielded Vipulbhai Patel and Congress had fielded CM Rajput.

7. BJP’s Jitendra Patel wins from Naranpura (Ahmedabad): Naranpura assembly seat of Ahmedabad came into existence in 2012 after delimitation in 2008. For the first time, Amit Shah had registered a big victory from here. After this, in 2017, Kaushikbhai Patel of BJP won this seat. This time BJP fielded Jitendrabhai Patel. Sonal Patel from Congress and Pankaj Patel from AAP were in the fray.

8. AAP’s Isudan from Khambhalia (Dwarka). Gadhvi lost: The Khambhalia seat is special because AAP’s CM candidate Isudan Gadhvi was contesting here. BJP has given ticket to Mulubhai Hardasabhai Bera and Congress to sitting MLA Vikram Madam. In 2017, he had defeated BJP candidate by 11 thousand 46 votes. Owaisi’s AIMIM had also fielded its candidate here.

9. Shankar Singh Vaghela’s son lost from Byad (Aravalli): Mahendra Vaghela, son of former Chief Minister Shankar Singh Vaghela, was in the fray from here. Mahendra Singh won the 2012 election on a Congress ticket. He did not contest the 2017 elections and joined the BJP. However, he returned to the Congress only after three months. Here BJP had given ticket to Bhikhiben Parmar and AAP to Chunibhai Patel.

BJP’s victory in Divya Bhaskar’s poll
Bhaskar’s Gujarati app ‘Divya Bhaskar’ did an exit poll after the second phase of voting in Gujarat. In this poll, apart from 100 journalists of Bhaskar, five journalists-experts-political activists from tehsils and districts talked about victory and defeat in 182 seats. According to this poll by Divya Bhaskar, BJP seems to be winning with a big margin from Congress.

35 years of Congress rule in 62 years of Gujarat
If we talk about the governments formed till now in Gujarat, then after the formation of the state in 1960 till 1975, the Congress government was here. The first non-Congress government was formed in 1975, but in the very next elections, ie in 1980, the Congress returned to power.

BJP has been in power for the last 27 years
In Gujarat, after 15 years of 1975 i.e. in 1990, once again a non-Congress government was formed, but the real turning point came in 1995… when BJP formed the government on its own for the first time. Then Keshubhai Patel became the Chief Minister of the state. In 2001, the BJP removed Patel and made Narendra Modi the Chief Minister of Gujarat.

After this, in 2002, 2007 and 2012, the BJP won the assembly elections under the leadership of Narendra Modi. Although the BJP had contested the last election in the state ie 2017 also on the face of Modi, but despite the survival of the government, its seats were reduced.
