The BJP has made preparations to throw its strength in the five states of the South for the election battle of 2024. There are 129 Lok Sabha seats in Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra and Tamil Nadu. Here the BJP is following a strategy of taking along the faces of Sangh background, disgruntled leaders of traditional dynastic parties as well as taking advantage of the popularity of non-political talent operating in various fields. The roadmap for Mission South was decided in the BJP’s national executive meeting held in Hyderabad.

KCR and Stalin on target on BJP’s Mission South
Under this, this campaign will be accelerated by dividing the coming 18 months into three phases of 6-6 months. BJP believes that after the growth saturation in the north, now land will have to be made in the south. Under this strategy, BJP has sent PT Usha from Kerala, Vijayendra Prasad from Andhra, Virendra Hegde from Karnataka and Ilaiya Raja from Tamil Nadu. The main targets of BJP in Mission South are TRS leader KCR in Telangana and DMK leader MK Stalin in Tamil Nadu.

BJP made a new plan for South State
The BJP won one seat in Telangana in the 2018 assembly elections and had a vote share of 7%. Whereas in the 2019 general election, the party won 4 Lok Sabha seats and the vote grew to 19.7%. The BJP had 4 seats in the 2016 Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections, which increased to 48 in 2020. BJP and TRS were tied with 35 per cent votes.

The BJP elected from Mission Coromandel East India as decided in the 2017 Odisha executive committee. Bengal and Odisha have been separated. Cluster plans have been made for expansion in the rest of the coastal areas. In the East India plan, the target was to win 80 seats, but in 2019, the BJP got only 30 seats out of 105. That is why the BJP has started working on a new plan for the South.

Toughest fight in Telangana
The most important battlefield in the south for the BJP is Telangana, where the party has been working hard for the last three years. Atla Rajendra, who broke away from TRS in Telangana, has taken over the reins of BJP. The party’s focus is on 19 SC and 12 ST seats. There have been visits of Union ministers to every assembly constituency of the state. Home Minister Shah was in Hyderabad on Saturday.
