Shailesh Patel was the BJP vice-president of Rata taluka of Vapi district.

He was shot dead on Monday morning in Rata taluka of Vapi district in Gujarat. BJP Vice President Shailesh Patel had reached Shiv Mandir with his wife. Meanwhile, three unidentified youths who came on a bike fired at them. Shailesh was hit by three bullets, due to which he died on the spot. In the preliminary investigation, the old enmity has come to the fore for the murder. The police is searching for the absconding accused.

Used to come to the temple every Monday with his wife
Shailesh Patel used to go to Shiva temple every Monday with his wife. This morning also reached the temple at around 7.15 am. After darshan, Shailesh was sitting on the driving seat of the car waiting for his wife to come. Meanwhile, a bike stopped near his car and a person sitting on the bike fired at him from the window of the car. Shailesh got three bullets in four rounds of firing. After firing, the accused fled.

Police engaged in identification of accused from CCTV footage
Three police teams of Vapi district and Rata taluka are on the lookout for the accused. According to the information received from the police, their Rata police have received a CCTV footage, in which all the three accused are seen. Other CCTV footage of the taluka is also being scanned.
