Bike Hits Railing, Falls Off Flyover, Two Friends Die | Noida News – Times of India

Greater Noida: Out to play Holi, two youngsters died and a third rider was critical after their motorbike hit a railing, throwing them off a flyover in Surajpur area of Greater Noida on Friday.
Police said it appears the three friends were inebriated and the driver was speeding at the time of the accident.
“We received a call around 1.30pm on Friday from a passerby who informed us about the accident. A team was rushed to the spot and found that three men had fallen off the Dadri railway station flyover,” said Awdhesh Kumar, the station house officer of Surajpur police station.
The three of them were rushed to the Krush Divine Hospital in Dadri. Vikas Kumar (21) and Maas (22) succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. 25-year-old Deva Singh, a resident of Salarpur in Noida, was shifted to the Kailash Hospital in Noida for further treatment. His condition is critical, hospital authorities said.
“Initial investigation has revealed that the three were friends and had stepped out to play Holi. They were traveling on a Bullet bike and were speeding. On the Dadri railway station flyover their bike first hit the divider and the three toppled over the side railing and fell off,” Kumar said.
He added that preliminary investigation shows all three, employees at different private firms, were drunk when the accident occurred.
Police have not received an official complaint, the SHO said.
The bodies of Vikas – a resident of Kulesara in Greater Noida – and Maas, who lives in Noida’s Sector 101, have been handed over to their families. According to the Gautam Budh Nagar traffic police, ten people were fined for drinking and driving on Holi this year.
Around 2,000 people lost their lives in nearly 4,600 road accidents in the district in the last five years. Of these, 798 crashes were reported in 2021, with 368 fatalities and around 550 injured. In 2020, despite fewer vehicles on road due to pandemic disruptions and weeks-long lockdown, GB Nagar saw 745 accidents that killed 380 and injured another 528.
