bikaner: Rajasthan: Proposed second RBSE office in Bikaner sparks controversy | Jaipur News – Times of India

JAIPUR: The proposed second office of the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) in Bikaner has sparked a major controversy in political circles.
Ajmer MP Bhagirath Choudhary has threatened to protest the opening of a second office in Bikaner, calling it a move to weaken the RBSE.
Local MLA and former minister Raghu Sharma have written to the CM protesting against the move. The decision was taken after Bikaner MLA BD Kalla was made the education minister in the recent cabinet reshuffle. The state government has identified land for the proposed RBSE second office in Bikaner.
In a letter to the CM Ashok Gehlot and chief secretary Niranjan Arya, Choudhary said, “Instead of focussing on the development and renovation of the board infrastructure, the move of dividing the existing successful office would disturb the functioning and will be a colossal waste of resources.”
Choudhary’s concern was shared by Sharma too. “I have heard through several platforms that RBSE’s divisional new office is coming up in Bikaner which has angered the citizens of Ajmer. I urge the CM Ashok Gehlot to not set up a divisional officer in Bikaner,” said Sharma in a letter.
Reacting to the opposition, Kalla clarified that the RBSE office will remain in Ajmer. “Nobody is shifting RBSE office from Ajmer to Bikaner. We are only creating a counter to provide basic services like migration, transfer certificates, marksheets, and other facilities so that students don’t need to go to Ajmer,” said Kalla. However, sources said the Bikaner officer will be responsible for 10 districts of the Jodhpur and Bikaner division.
“The number of students appearing in RBSE board exams Class 10 and 12 are touching 25 lakh. Along with other competitive exams like the REET in which 25 lakh students had appeared last year. It creates a big exercise for the board staff. The division would only help in load shedding and improve the quality of work,” said an official.
