Bihar News LIVE Updates: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has sought time from Raj Bhavan amid speculation of a possible reunion of JD(U) with the BJP. Meanwhile, the RJD has claimed that the party is in touch with JD(U) MLAs, sources said.

Nitish Kumar attended the high tea ceremony at the Raj Bhavan in Patna, where his deputy Tejashwi Yadav remained absent.

As per reports, the swearing-in ceremony of the Bihar CM with BJP’s support is finalised and likely to take place on Sunday. BJP veteran leader Sushil Kumar Modi will be taking oath as the deputy CM, JD(U) sources said.

All Congress MLAs have been asked to reach Purnia tomorrow amid the political turmoil in the state. A meeting of the Congress MLAs will take place at 1 pm in Purnia.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Friday said he is neither happy nor unhappy about the possibility of the Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) reviving its ties with the BJP as the Bihar chief minister’s equations with INDIA bloc partners turn sour. Amid speculation that Kumar — the JD(U) chief — could pull out of the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar and return to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Singh was asked by reporters if he would welcome his return as an ally.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Yadav’s meeting with his party leaders in Patna, the BJP high command asking its leaders from Bihar to reach Delhi and BJP leader Sushil Modi’s praise for Nitish Kumar for his attack on dynasty politics, have fuelled speculations of a possible alliance between the old allies ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Furthermore, Kumar’s refusal to join Congress’ ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ scheduled to enter Bihar on January 30 added fuel to the rumours.
