CHHAPRA: A 17-year-old boy was shot dead by his friends under Chhapra Mufassil police station area on Wednesday. His body was found near Laxmi Nagar.
The deceased was identified as Sonu Kumar, the son of Nagendra Sah of Laxmi Nagar. Some of his friends called him out of his house and took Sonu to a nearby highway where they allegedly shot him dead, Saran SP Santosh Kumar said.
The police recovered empty cartridges from the place of occurrence. “Raids are being conducted to nab the culprits and collect more information in this case,” the SP said.
The SP, quoting local people, said Sonu and his friends had some dispute over a motorcycle. “Attempts were also made to resolve the problem through ‘panchayati’, but in vain.
According to sources, the deceased and his friends were addicted to drugs. They had somehow procured the ATM card of Sonu’s father and purchased a motorcycle. After knowing it, the family members pressurized Sonu’s friends to hand over the bike to his father. That might be the reason behind Sonu’s murder, sources said.
