Big preparations to stop drug addiction in Punjab elections: Joint action of police, BSF and NCB of 9 states; checking of Pakistani containers; state border seal

In Punjab elections, the police has made great preparations to prevent drug addiction. Police of 8 more states will work together with Punjab. Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Chandigarh Police will also accompany in this. Apart from this, Border Security Force (BSF) and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) will also be there.

BSF will stop cross-border drug smuggling. Will expedite investigation of Pakistani containers. At the same time, a team of NCB will be deployed in every district to catch drugs within the state. The borders of the states adjoining Punjab will also be sealed. In this regard, Punjab DGP VK Bhavra held a meeting with the police officers of all the states, after which this planning has been done.

Nodal officer in every state
In Punjab, during the elections, intoxicants do not reach under any circumstances, for this, every state will have a police nodal officer. It was decided in the meeting that on receiving any information or intelligence input about the drug, action would be taken immediately. To give this information further, a WhatsApp group of nodal officers will be formed, in which senior officers of that state will also be there. Any accused connected with drugs will be arrested immediately.

Will give details about notorious smugglers
All other states including Punjab will inform each other about the notorious smugglers of their place. The advantage of this is that the police of all the states will keep an eye on their movement. There will also be a network of intelligence agencies behind them, so that if they smuggle drugs, they can be caught with the entire network.

List of fugitives and payroll jumpers will be shared
A plan is also ready for that no fugitive or payroll jumper should disturb the election. All the states including Punjab will share with each other the list of accused and payroll jumpers who have been declared as fugitives. If they are hiding in any state, they will be caught.

Checking of containers coming from Pakistan will be faster
The checking of containers coming from Pakistan will be intensified at the Integrated Check Post at Attari. BSF will increase checking and patrolling along the Pakistani border with Punjab.

NCB Gwalior also sought help
The Punjab Police sought help from the Gwalior-based NCB team to stop the illegal supply of POPPY HUSK and opium.

Meeting with Drug Controller of 4 states and Chandigarh also
Drug controllers of Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir and Chandigarh also participated in this high level meeting. In this, he was asked to take action on medical intoxication in the elections. In particular, special attention was asked to keep a close watch on ephedrine and pseudoephedrine used as synthetic drugs. Punjab Election Nodal Officer ADGP Ishwar Singh said that Punjab will have zero tolerance policy towards drugs.
