During the judgment, the High Court observed that the argument presented by the ED proved that they had sufficient cause to arrest the owner.

Minister Nawab Malik, who is in the custody of the ED in a money laundering case related to purchase of land from the family of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, got a major setback from the Bombay High Court on Tuesday. Justifying his arrest, the High Court has dismissed his petition, in which he had called the arrest illegal, targeting questions on the method of arresting himself.

During the judgment, the High Court observed that the argument presented by the ED proved that they had sufficient cause to arrest the owner. However, there has been no debate in the court regarding the verification of the evidence.

Owner’s bail has also been rejected by PMLA court
Earlier, the PMLA court in Mumbai has also rejected the argument of Nawab Malik that action is being taken against him for political reasons. Now it is believed that Nawab Malik will move the Supreme Court.

Nawab Malik is lodged in Arthur Road Jail
Nawab Malik was arrested by the ED on February 23 in a money laundering case. After being in ED custody for a week, he is now lodged in Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail in judicial custody.

Should resign after High Court’s decision: Fadnavis
Opposition leader in the assembly Devendra Fadnavis gave his reaction while talking to reporters outside the assembly after this decision of the court. He said that the court has justified the arrest of the ED. Even now, it will be unfortunate if the Thackeray government does not sack Nawab Malik or accept his resignation. Even after seeing the direct connection, the government is not accepting his resignation, it is clear that the government is following the behest of Dawood Ibrahim.

Nawab Malik accused of D connection
On 9 November 2021, Nawab Malik was accused of making land deals against Dawood Ibrahim and people related to the Mumbai bomb blasts. He claimed that the woman who was the owner of the land in this deal was not given a single rupee. Rather, the power of attorney was transferred from that woman to the names of Sardar Shah Wali Khan and Salim Patel. Both of them have been related to Dawood Ibrahim and Mumbai bomb blasts.

Despite this, Nawab Malik bought the land from him for a penny in the name of his son Faraj Malik. Fadnavis claims that Malik dealt with land worth Rs 300 crore for Rs 30 lakh and paid only Rs 20 lakh in that too. In return, Rs 55 lakh was transferred to Dawood Ibrahim’s sister Haseena Parkar. Devendra Fadnavis has claimed that after this deal there were three more blasts in Mumbai. That is, the money associated with this deal was used for terror funding.
