NGT imposes Rs 100 crore fine on Kochi Municipal Corporation, alleging violation of Solid Waste Management Rules
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has imposed a hefty fine of Rs 100 crore on the Kochi Municipal Corporation (KMC). This fine has been imposed in the case of fire at the waste dump site in Brahapuram, Kochi. The NGT in its order said that the Kerala government and the KMC have completely failed in their duty. They have violated the Solid Waste Management Rules.
