On going from Chitrakoot to Bharatkup, a huge rock will be seen on the Chitrakoot mountain in the middle. The name is Ram Shaiya. It is believed that Lord Rama and Mother Sita used to rest for the night here during their exile. Two marks are visible on the rock. The length of the first trail is 15 feet and that of the second is 11 feet. It is believed that Lord Rama and Mother Sita used to lie here, due to which scars have been made.

This place is 2 km away from Kamadgiri. Bhaskar’s team reached this place after traveling 300 km from Lucknow. He saw the rock, which is said to be the sleeping place of Rama and Sita. After talking to the chief priest here, also know the history related to the rock.

Pandit Badhku Dwivedi, the chief priest of Ram Shaiya, said, “Ram used to keep a quiver between Sita and himself to maintain dignity. Mother Sita used to sleep on the right side of Shri Ram. The priest says, “It is said in the Ramayana by Tulsidas that when Rama’s younger brother Bharat came to Chitrakoot to meet him, he also met Mother Sita and Rama at night at the place of Ram Shaiya. Meeting them from there he proceeded to Bharatkup. Had gone.”

The responsibility of guarding the Ram Shaiya mountain rests on the people of the adjoining gram panchayat Bihara. Jitendra, a resident of Bihara, said, “All the people of the village cooperate for the care of Ram Shaiya. Attention is given to the improvement and cleanliness of the parikrama path here.”

Jeetendra further says, “There are more than 3000 neem trees on the entire mountain, which release oxygen even at night. No one has planted these trees here, they have grown themselves. Ram Shaiya has a Dharma-Deen temple. Tourists who come here stop and take rest. There are also bhajans and kirtans from time to time.

Lavkush of Bihara village says, “Ravana Dahan is done near Ram Shaiya on Dussehra after Sharadiya Navratri.
