On going from Chitrakoot to Bharatkup, a huge rock will be seen on the Chitrakoot mountain in the middle. The name is Ram Shaiya. It is believed that Lord Rama and Mother Sita used to rest for the night here during their exile. Two marks are visible on the rock. The length of the first trail is 15 feet and that of the second is 11 feet. It is believed that Lord Rama and Mother Sita used to lie here, due to which scars have been made.

Pandit Badhku Dwivedi, the chief priest of Ram Shaiya, said, “Ram used to keep a quiver between Sita and himself to maintain dignity. Mother Sita used to sleep on the right side of Shri Ram. This rock is molten in her shape. Next to both of them. The image of the bow kept is still visible on the rock.
The priest here told that looking at these two parts of the rock it is known that the length of Rama was 15 feet and Sita Mata was 11 feet. This rock is 20 feet high and 18 feet long.
The priest says, “It is said in the Ramayana by Tulsidas that when Rama’s younger brother Bharat came to Chitrakoot to meet him, he also met Mother Sita and Rama at night at the place of Ram Shaiya. Meeting them from there he proceeded to Bharatkup. Had gone.”
Ram used to spend the day on the Kamtanath mountain and the night at Chitrakoot Giri.
He says, “During exile in Chitrakoot, Rama, Sita and Lakshmana used to spend the whole day at Mount Kamtanath. Big sages and Mahatmas used to come there to meet him. After meeting the sages, Ram-Sita used to come at night to rest on a big rock at Chitrakoot Giri, 2 km from Kamadgiri. His younger brother Lakshman used to climb the hill. From there used to protect Sita and Ram throughout the night.
While circumambulating Ram Shaiya, you will see the temples of Hanuman ji on all four corners. It is said that even today Bajrang Bali protects Ram Shaiya from all four directions.
There are 3 thousand neem trees on Chitrakoot mountain
The responsibility of guarding the Ram Shaiya mountain rests on the people of the adjoining gram panchayat Bihara. Jitendra, a resident of Bihara, said, “All the people of the village cooperate for the care of Ram Shaiya. Attention is given to the improvement and cleanliness of the parikrama path here.”
Jeetendra further says, “There are more than 3000 neem trees on the entire mountain, which release oxygen even at night. No one has planted these trees here, they have grown themselves. Ram Shaiya has a Dharma-Deen temple. Tourists who come here stop and take rest. There are also bhajans and kirtans from time to time.
The Peepal tree present in Ram Shaiya remains a puzzle for scientists. Usually the tip of the peepal leaf is long. But the peepal leaves in Ram Shaiya do not have long tips.
Ravana combustion happens on Dussehra, people of 50 villages come
On Dussehra, the Ram Shaiya place is decorated a week in advance. Here a huge effigy of Ravana is made and burnt. Lavkush of Bihara village says, “Ravana Dahan is done near Ram Shaiya on Dussehra after Sharadiya Navratri. There is also a Bhandara on the same day, in which people from 50 nearby villages come to attend.
