- Nupur Sharma Controversy; Retired Judges Bureaucrats Army Officers Open Letter To Chief Justice NV Ramana

Former judges and bureaucrats are angry with the remarks of Justice Surya Kant and Justice JB Pardiwala during the hearing of Nupur Sharma’s case in the Supreme Court. These people have written a letter to CJI NV Ramana. It said that the Supreme Court has crossed the Lakshman Rekha and the court should immediately take corrective steps in Nupur’s case.
It also said that Justice Suryakant Tripathi’s observations and orders be directed to be withdrawn. The letters are signed by 15 retired judges, 77 retired bureaucrats and 25 retired military officers.

Among the signatories were Justice PS Ravindran of Kerala High Court, Kshitij Vyas, former Chief Justice of Bombay High Court, SM Soni, former Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court, RS Rathore and Prashant Agarwal, former Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court, SN Dhingra, former Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. Former IAS officers RS Gopalan and S Krishna Kumar, Ambassador (Retd) Niranjan Desai, former DGP SP Vaid, B L Vohra, Lt Gen VK Chaturvedi (Retd) have also signed. These people said that the comments of the judges of the Supreme Court in Nupur’s case do not match with the judicial values.
The letter reads- “Never in the history of judiciary have such unfortunate remarks happened. These are like a blot on the justice system of the largest democracy. Which needs to be reformed immediately, as it has serious implications for democratic values and the security of the country.” Maybe. These comments had nothing to do with the case.”
Justice Pardiwala had said – personal attack on judges is dangerous
The Supreme Court had held former BJP leader Nupur Sharma responsible for the murders in Udaipur and Amravati. After this, there are constant personal attacks regarding the decision of the judges.
