The ED, which is probing money laundering in the West Bengal teacher recruitment scam, on Saturday frozen the bank accounts of eight companies linked to Arpita Mukherjee, a close aide of former minister Partha Chatterjee. During the interrogation of the 7th day, Parth disclosed the scam and said that the jobs were given at the behest of the leaders.

According to ED sources, Arpita and Parth will be interrogated by sitting face to face on Saturday. During the raid on Arpita’s house on July 28, the ED got about 28 crores in cash.

Received information about penthouse, also 2 flats
Parth has bought a penthouse and two flats under different names in the society from where ED sources said Arpita had received Rs 22 crore in cash. After the raid, the information about these flats has been removed from the society’s app.

Anandabazar Patrika Quoting the people living in the society, the report said that there are two flats on the 19th and 20th floors of the house, while the penthouse has been built at the top. Residents told that Parth used to visit this penthouse occasionally.

On Friday, ED took Parth to ESIC Hospital for a medical test. Parth accused of being implicated in the conspiracy here.

ED preparing to raid 15 locations after getting 50 crores
ED is preparing to raid about 15 locations in Diamond City and Birbhum. So far, ED II has recovered about Rs 50 crore in cash in two raids. At the same time, during the interrogation of ED, Arpita confessed that all the money belonged to Parth.

Soon after the completion of ED’s investigation, the entry of CBI and Income Tax Department can also be done in this case. Income Tax Department can question and answer Partha Chatterjee and Arpita Mukherjee in the case of benami property. It is also reported that the 4 cars which are missing are yet to be traced. ED officials suspect that money was sent in these cars.

  5. 27 July: ED raids Arpita’s second flat. In this raid that lasted for 18 hours, the ED recovered cash of about Rs 28 crore.
  6. 28 July: Mamta Banerjee called a cabinet meeting. After the meeting, Parth was dropped from the cabinet. Parth was also suspended from the party on the same day.
