Initial investigation into the triple train accident in Odisha’s Balasore has revealed that the system was deliberately tampered with. News agency PTI quoted railway sources as claiming that the accident occurred due to a fault in the electronic interlocking system. Without tampering, it is not possible that the route fixed for the main line turns into a loop line.

The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) is already probing the incident. Many facts and information have come out in the initial investigation. After this the need for a CBI inquiry was felt, so the government recommended a CBI inquiry.

The Odisha Government Railway Police (GRP) has registered an FIR against unknown persons under various sections of the Railways Act 1989 and IPC in connection with the Odisha train accident.

The repair work of the accident track has been completed. When the first train was flagged off from this track on Sunday night, 51 hours after the accident, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav was seen standing with folded hands. He said that our responsibility is not over yet. Our goal is to find the missing people. Saying this he became emotional.

The Railway Minister has been monitoring the rescue and track repairing at Bahanga Bazar station in Balasore since the accident. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after visiting Balasore on Saturday, was continuously taking updates related to the rescue operation from the Railway Minister.

The rescue operation is over, all nine NDRF teams are returning from the spot. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the railway track was cleared on Sunday night. After this, more than 50-60 trains have passed through there.

Mamata Banerjee will visit Odisha today
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will visit Odisha on Tuesday. She will visit Cuttack and Bhubaneswar to meet the families of the people of Bengal who lost their lives and the injured.

On Wednesday, Mamta will give a check of Rs 5 lakh for financial help to the family of those who died in the accident and an appointment letter for a home guard job to a family member. She will provide financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to those seriously injured in the accident and Rs 25,000 to those with minor injuries.

Mamta Banerjee will give Rs 10,000 help this month to those who are in trauma due to accident.  After this, they will be given an assistance of Rs 2,000 for 4 months.

Aditya Kumar Chowdhary, CPRO, South Eastern Railway said that there are some wrong reports that the railwaymen have fled. The news of the death of the loco pilot is also going on, while he is admitted in AIIMS Bhubaneswar and he is out of danger. The correct information related to this is being shared by the Railways.

The company has also released the phone number of this center. By calling the number +91-9324968286, any relative of the passenger of the accident train can take help for the insurance claim. Many other companies have also set up separate desks to expedite the insurance claim process.

Odisha government said – 275 died in the accident, not 288
Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena claimed on Sunday morning that not 288, but 275 people had died in the accident. He said that some bodies were counted twice, due to which there was a discrepancy in the death toll. 1,175 people were injured in the accident, out of which 793 have been discharged after treatment.

On this, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said that the list of those who lost their lives in the accident is increasing with us, but it is decreasing with them. 162 people of West Bengal have lost their lives in the accident. Till now the complete list has not been found. Many such people also travel who are not in the list. 182 bodies have not yet been identified

Three trains collided at the outer of Bahanaga Bazar station
The accident took place on June 2 at 7.10 pm. Railway officials had told that a goods train was standing on the outer line of Bahanga Bazar station. The Coromandel Express going from Howrah to Chennai derailed here and collided with a goods train. The engine of the express overturned the goods train and the bogies fell onto the third track. The Bengaluru-Howrah Express coming on the third track hit the coaches of the Coromandel Express.

  • The middle track is the up main line, on which the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express was coming.
  • There was a common loop line near the Up main line, on which the goods train stood. Some coaches of the Coromandel Express were thrown away after hitting the goods train. Some coaches also fell on the down main line.
  • The top down is the main line. The Bangalore-Howrah Superfast Express passed from here. The coaches of the Coromandel Express were also lying on this track. The Bangalore-Howrah train collided with these coaches.
