In Karnataka’s Shivamogga district, Bajrang Dal activists interrupted a Kannada play. There were many Muslim actors along with Hindus in the play. The play started around 7.45 pm, Bajrang Dal workers entered the hall around 9:30 pm. started raising slogans against muslim artists

Angry Bajrang Dal activists climbed the stage and shouted Bharat Mata ki Jai slogans after Muslim actors performed in the play being held in the halls of the Veerashaiva temple complex of Shivamogga. Seeing the commotion, the artists got scared and ran away. The protesters also asked the audience to vacate the hall.

Police do not have complete information
Police said they had received information that Bajrang Dal activists had stopped a play. By the time the policemen reached the temple, the drama had stopped. As of now we do not know the reason why it was stopped. We are collecting all the information.

The play was on the story of an American writer
The drama being performed by the Drama Group is a Kannada adaptation of Fiddler on the Roof. The story was written in 1971 by famous American writers Joseph Stein and Sholem Alchem. Later it was translated into Kannada by lyricist Jayant Kaikini.

Comedian Munawwar Farooqui’s show was also objected
This is not the first time that Bajrang Dal workers have stopped a drama. The workers of Bajrang Dal had also spoken of banning the show of comedian Munawwar Farooqui. Activists said that Farooqui makes obscene remarks on Hindu gods and goddesses from the platform. After this, many shows of Farooqui were canceled across the country. Later, Farooqui clarified, saying that I have never made such remarks against any religion, which hurt people’s sentiments. I only do comedy and will continue to do so.
