NOIDA: The Noida unit of the UP Police’s special task force (STF) on Thursday claimed to have arrested the fifth shooter in connection with the alleged attack on the convoy of a Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) functionary in Bulandshahr. Three guns, including two Austria-made Glock pistols, have been seized from his possession.
Police said Arvind Poswal (33) was involved in the attack on the convoy of RLD leader Haji Yunus in Bulandshahr on December 5 that resulted in the death of one person. “We recieved a tip-off about Poswal’s presence in Bulandshahr on Thursday. The team laid a trap and managed to nab Poswal,” said additional superintendent of police (STF) Raj Kumar Mishra.
During interrogation, Poswal told cops that he was offered money for the attack. “The pistols seized from the shooter were provided to him by his handler, Haris, who left the country and fled to the UAE two days prior to the attack,” Mishra said. “We are gathering more details about the possession of the highly sophisticated pistols. The seizure has put the state force on alert.”
