A shocking case of beating an IAS officer hostage has come to light in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district. In this case, the police have registered a case against 17 fishermen and arrested 3 fishermen. This case of attack on the officer is of the evening of 4th March. The search is on for the other 13 accused.

Sabarkantha’s Fisheries Commissioner Nitin Sangwan (IAS) along with Fishing Officer DN Patel had come for a surprise inspection at Dharoi Dam in Sabarkantha on Monday. Meanwhile, he got into a heated argument with a group of 17 fishermen. During this, the accused manhandled the officer and took him along with all the employees hostage. Not only this, he was released on the assurance that he would not lodge a police complaint against the accused.

Said- write that there is an agreement between us
In the complaint filed by the officer and other employees on Wednesday, it has been said that Babu Parmar, the main accused, along with 15 of his associates had assaulted them. All the accused armed with sticks surrounded them. After the fight, the accused were also asked to give in writing that an agreement has been reached between us. The accused also threatened that if any officer comes to inspect the dam again, he will be killed and thrown into the dam.

DSP Vishal Vaghela of Sabarkantha district said that Fisheries Commissioner Nitin Sangwan has received some minor injuries. So far 3 people have been arrested in this case, while the search is on for others. The arrested people have been identified as Dilip Parmar, Nilesh Gamar and Vishnu Gamar, residents of Banaskantha district.
