Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma unveiled the logo, theme song, memento, certificate and judges’ kit of Assam Sanskritik Mahasangram on Tuesday. The cultural event aims to provide a cultural platform to help the youth of Assam to showcase their talent. Speaking on the occasion, Assam Chief Minister said that the state government is embarking upon a cultural empowerment narrative to upscale the development of all people across the state.
“This Assam Sanskritik Mahasangram is being organised to tap the inherent talents of the youth”, Himanta Biswa Sarma was quoted as saying by news agency PTI. The Assam government aims to spend Rs 36 crore for the event which is set to witness over 10 lakh participants at 3,000 venues, Himanta Biswa Sarma was further reported as saying. He also urged the organisers to refrain from seeking any donation from anybody for the programme.
The Assam CM also underlined that each MLA of the state can also contribute to the event by using 10 percent of their local areas development fund for the event. He also seeked support and cooperation from the people for successfully conducting the event. The Cultural Affairs Department of the Assam government will conduct the event on February 7, 2024.

The cultural event would unfold competitions across three categories with participants aged between 12 to 18 years in Group A, 19 to 24 years in Group B, and 25 to 35 years in Group C. The participants shall present various forms of culture and arts from music and dance, including Assam’s famed Bihu dance. The competitions will be held at the panchayat level and the first three winners of the aforementioned levels shall participate at the legislative assembly constituency (LAC).
Winners of the LAC would move forward to the district level and the final grand finale henceforth, which will be held Guwahati. State and district level winners will compete in the grand finale, and the winners shall be felicitated with certificates. Winners of the LAC level will also receive mementos and cash rewards.
