Security forces gunned down two terrorists on Thursday in Vanigam Payeen Kreeri area of ​​Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla. In the early hours today, information was received about the presence of terrorists in the area. After this the search operation was conducted there. The terrorists fired, after which the encounter started. The entire area has been sealed.

The Kashmir Zone Police tweeted that it was a joint operation between the police and the army. Which was jointly run by 29RR, Central Reserve Police and Jammu and Kashmir Police. In this operation, 1 AK-47, 1 pistol and ammunition have been recovered from the terrorists.

Both the terrorists were local – ADGP Kashmir

ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar told that both the terrorists killed were local. They have been identified as Shakir Majeed Nazar and Hanan Ahmed Sheh of Shopian district. He had links with the banned terrorist organization Lashkar. Both had joined this organization in March 2023.

Two terrorists were killed on the previous day as well
On Wednesday itself, the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Army had foiled an infiltration bid in the Machil sector during a joint operation. In this operation also two terrorists were killed. The terrorists had tried to infiltrate from near the Line of Control.

There was a terrorist attack in Poonch

The attack was carried out on 20 April at 3 pm. The truck caught fire due to grenade attack and firing.

Two weeks back, terrorists had targeted an army convoy in Poonch in which 5 soldiers were martyred. The responsibility of the terrorist attack was claimed by the terrorist organization People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF). He also threatened to attack again after this. PAFF is a subsidiary of Jaish-e-Mohammed. After the abrogation of Article 370, PAFF emerged as a proxy outfit of Jaish.
