Indian Army has announced major changes in the selection process of Agniveer Recruitment. Now the candidates will first have to appear for an online Common Entrance Examination (CEE) i.e. written test. Now CEE is taken later.

Advertisements were published by the army in several newspapers announcing the change in the enrollment process. An official notification in this regard is expected to be issued by mid-February.

Know what was the process before and what was the change…

Earlier: The recruitment process for Agniveers was different. First there was the physical fitness test of the candidates. After that the medical test and then finally the candidates had to pass the Common Entrance Examination (CEE) i.e. written test. Selection for training was done on the basis of final merit list.

Now: According to the sources, the candidates will have to give CEE first. After this there will be fitness and medical test. The official notification of this changed process can be issued in the middle of February.

Why Changed: An army source said that the change in procedure is being done to reduce the expenditure. Earlier physical and medical rallies were conducted for recruitment. Having the first CEE will reduce the crowd in the rallies. This will also reduce the burden of expenditure. Only those people who have cleared CEE will participate in the rallies. The source said that earlier lakhs of candidates used to participate in the recruitment at 200 screening centers in the country and it was costing a lot.

40 thousand candidates will be included this year
The new process will be applicable to around 40,000 candidates who are willing to appear in the recruitment to be held in 2023-24. The first online CEE test will be conducted in April at around 200 centers across the country.
