Apple Quietly Increases iCloud+ Prices In These Countries

Apple has increased iCloud+ price in several regions, quietly. The tech giant has only increased the price of iCloud+ in countries like Brazil, Denmark, Norway and the UK, among a few others while the price of iCloud+ continues to remain unchanged in the US. As per the Cupertino, California-headquartered company’s price change in iCloud+ storage plans, the prices effective in India start at 50GB for Rs 75, 200GB for Rs 219 and 2TB for Rs 749. These prices are inclusive of all taxes.

The other countries including Turkey would witness a hike in Apple iCloud+ pricing. The basic 50GB plan now costs £0.99, up from £0.79 in the UK. The 200GB plan is now £2.99, up from £2.49. And the 2TB plan is now £8.99, up from £6.99. These hiked prices mean a 25 per cent-30 per cent increase for customers in the UK.

According to Apple’s support page, “when you sign up for iCloud, you automatically get 5GB of free storage. If you need more iCloud storage or want access to premium features, you can upgrade to iCloud+.” iCloud+ is Apple’s premium cloud subscription. It gives users more storage for their photos, files, and backups, and additional features, which are available only to premium subscribers.

Meanwhile, Apple started rolling out its latest software update, the iOS 16.5.1 for iPhone users a few days back. The iOS 16.51 brings in a number of features and also fixes two critical security flaws which may have been actively exploited. The security bugs that have been fixed in the latest update had been used to hack iPhones in Russia, says a report by The Washington Post. Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky had flagged off the security vulnerabilities and Apple thanked them for that.

The iOS 16.5.1 update brings a fix for a vulnerability that could allow an app to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. As per the iPhone maker’s support page, the iOS 16.5.1 upgrade fixes a vulnerability in the Kernel tracked as CVE-2023-32434 that could allow an attacker to execute code with Kernel privileges.

Apple is rolling out the iOS 16‌‌‌‌.5.1 and iPadOS 16.5.1 for all users globally for eligible iPhone models and iPad models as an over-the-air (OTA) update. The latest updates can be downloaded by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
