Apple May Soon Launch 12.9-Inch iPad Air: Report

In recent developments, Apple is said to be in the works to introduce an expanded iPad Air, boasting a sizable 12.9-inch display as the anticipated iPad Air 6th Generation model. The device is expected to be powered by Apple’s proprietary M2 chipset. This speculation, initially surfacing in October of the previous year, gains substance with the recent unveiling of renders by 91Mobiles.

Citing insights from industry sources, the 91Mobiles report outlines that the forthcoming iPad Air with a 12.9-inch screen will maintain a design akin to its predecessor. Characterised by a slender profile and an all-screen configuration, the tablet is projected to incorporate a Touch ID button at the top and speaker grilles at the bottom, reminiscent of the previous generation. Noteworthy additions include a side switch and a USB-C type port. A distinctive alteration appears in the rear camera setup, with a discernible border encircling the lens and LED flash.

As per further media reports, the 12.9-inch iPad Air aims to bridge the gap between the Pro and Air lineups. This move enables users to access a larger Apple display while enjoying cost savings compared to opting for the Pro lineup. The bezel configuration on the iPad Air 12.9 inch is expected to maintain similarity with its predecessor, potentially resulting in larger overall dimensions than the existing 12.9-inch iPad Pro lineup.

Currently, the iPad Air 5th Gen boasts a 10.9-inch screen, but Apple’s forthcoming launch may introduce a choice between two sizes. A prior Bloomberg report delves into Apple’s plans, identifying four potential models, codenamed J507, J508, J537, and J538. These models are anticipated to be available in both wifi and cellular versions. The larger display strategy aligns with Apple’s broader approach, mirroring the diversity observed in the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro series, offering consumers various options at distinct price points.
