Apple has finally updated its 24-inch iMac. It now comes with the brand-new M3 chipset, opening up new possibilities. Here are the details.

Today, during its ‘Scary Fast’ online event, Apple revealed the new 24-inch iMac featuring the M3 chipset. Notably, the iMac had not been updated in two years since its launch in 2021 with the M1 chipset. Now, it skips the M2 generation and jumps directly to the third-generation M3.

Apple claims that the M3-powered iMac is up to twice as powerful as the older M1 model but retains more or less the same design as before.

iMac with M3 Price and Availability

Apple has priced the new iMac starting at Rs 1,34,900 for the 8GB+256GB variant with an 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU. It can be configured with up to 24GB RAM + 1TB SSD, which would cost Rs 2,14,900.

The 24-inch iMac with the 10-core GPU retails at Rs 1,54,900. And it can be configured up to 24GB RAM + 2TB SSD, and it would cost a whopping Rs 2,87,400.

This new iMac will be available from November 7 and is already up for pre-order in India and other regions across the world. It comes in seven colours: Blue, Green, Silver, Pink, Yellow, Orange and Purple.

iMac M3 Features and Specifications

Being an iMac, the first thing that comes to mind is the display. Here, the 24-inch iMac features a 4.5K panel supporting a 60Hz refresh rate, P3 color gamut, and 500 nits of peak brightness.

In terms of performance—the key upgrade here—Apple’s M3 silicon makes the new iMac 4.5x faster than the older 21.5-inch Intel iMac. The M3 chip can be configured with up to an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. Moreover, the chipset upgrades enable hardware-supported ray tracing and mesh shading, enhancing capabilities for gaming and creative workflows such as video and photo editing.

Apple notes that users can now edit and play back up to 12 streams of 4K video, which is 3x more than before.

On the connectivity and I/O front, it supports Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and features up to four USB-C ports, of which two are Thunderbolt ports allowing you to connect a 6K display. And, being an all-in-one computer, the iMac M3 features a 1080P camera for FaceTime calls and more.

iMac M3 comes with Apple accessories including  the Magic Mouse and the Magic Keyboard, but if you want the Magic Keyboard with TouchID, you will have to shell out more.
